Welcome to Grade Four at Mary Bergeron Elementary School. Get ready for an exciting year of learning!
Students will continue to develop and improve their number sense through many different lessons.
Some topics that we will cover this year include:
- fractions and decimals
- data analysis
- patterns and equations
- whole numbers, addition, subtraction, comparing and estimating
- multiplication and division
Students will be learning about many interesting topics in science this year. Some of these include:
- Waste and Our World
- Wheels and Levers
- Building Devices and Vehicles That Move
- Light and Shadow
- Plant Growth and Change
By examining many aspects of Alberta, such as geography, history and culture, students will develop a
stronger sense of people's identity as Albertans and a better understanding of our province's diversity.
We will be learning about three main topics:
- Alberta: A sense of the Land
- The Stories, Histories and People of Alberta
- Alberta: Celebrations and Challenges
Throughout the school year students will be developing and improving their skills in reading, writing and spelling.
Students will continue to improve their reading comprehension and fluency by participating in many lessons including:
- spelling units
- guided reading
- Reading Strategy lessons
- novel study
- book club
- 6+1 Writing Traits lesson
- grammar and speech activities
Mr. Hyatt will be teaching Ms. Prince will be teaching Music
